As Brits up and down the country decide to turn their heating on for the first time as temperatures drop, boiler boffins have warned householders that there are 20-minute tasks that they should carry out in order to keep their homes as cosy and snug as possible over the coming months.

Industry engineers have insisted that people should not delay in turning their heating on before the mercury starts to plummet to freezing temperatures. Mark Ingram, technical gas and plumbing tutor at Engineering Real Results (ERR) said: “We always advise that just before the cold weather starts people should switch their heating on, even if you only run it for 20 minutes.”
